This term we have been learning about the holocaust and Adolf Hitler. Our task was to make a site about the holocaust and pick a theme after we picked a theme we had to make questions about that theme and do lots of research about them.

The holocaust started in on 1941 and ended on 8 May 1945, The Nazi was a group of soldiers who hated the Jewish. the Nazi leader Adolf Hitler hated the all kinds of people but mostly the Jewish people, he used concentration camp and gas chamber to kill lots and lots of people. If you didn't get killed you would get put to work all day everyday even in harsh conditions. You would be forced to wear striped pajamas so if you escaped you wouldn't be able to blend in to the nature and you would get killed. 

you would have Jewish armbands on and when a solider came to your door you would show them something that shows you are Jewish or not. If you were Jewish you had to get a census card to show to the soldiers. 

Adolf Hitler got married for less than 40 hours because they both shot themselves and poisoned themselves. The day before Hitler tested the poison on his dog and killed his dog.

2020 The Year No One Will Forget

This week I made a book using Book Creator and then made a virtual library using google slides.

I had lots of fun making the book and making up rhymes. I used an app called rhymezone for two of my rhymes and made the rest up.

Our task was to make a book on 2020 and the things we did. It was a lot of fun and not extremely hard. So I hope you like it.Enjoy.

The Cook Islands!!!

The last couple of weeks I have been making a google earth about the Cook Islands. In the google earth there is history, population, location, fun facts, food, native animals and more.

First we had to make a doc that had all of ur writing and facts, then aftr we finished that we had to make a google earth with that information. 

I had so much fun learning about the Cook Islands as there are so many islands that make up the Cook Island. You will find out lots of cool things about the Cook Islands and the islands that make it.

Wolf VS Wolf

In Yellowstone wolves were reintroduced 1990 which had a very positive impact on the environment and helped all the plants and nature regenerate.

   

However, in France wolves were attacking all of farmers animals (mainly sheep) so they got hunted all of the wolves until extinction.   

Overall I think wolves are great creatures, they are smart and very unique animals.

How Wolves Saved Yellowstone National Park.

This week we have been learning about wolves and the impact they had on Yellowstone national park in 1995.  

Here are some facts: 

I made this Yellowstone national park in minecraft using minecraft education edition. Yellowstone national park is placed in the USA it is a lot bigger than this. So I don't think I could make the entire thing in a week. 

As you can see I have a lot of trees,animals and caves.

In Yellowstone National Park, in America, wolves were  eradicated from the environment. This had a  detrimental effect on the land as the elk were taking over, eating the shrubs and damaging the environment. The National Park was becoming barren and exposed. 

In 1995, wolves were reintroduced into the park where they began a trophic cascade. This is where other species benefit from their presence and the environment flourishes and regenerates .

Because of the wolves in the park, the elk weren’t grazing by the rivers as they could be easily hunted. Some of them were killed for food by the wolves and the elk population slowed With less elk, the trees could regenerate, and in some places their growth quintupled . More trees meant more migratory birds arrived, as well as song birds, and more trees meant more beavers and otters. Bears returned to the area as there were berries and carrion to eat. The carrion that the wolves left behind was attracting rodents and hawks. 

The reintroduction of wolves also affected the course of the rivers as the banks became more stable and so they meandered less. Having wolves back in the park had a very positive impact on Yellowstone National Park

Advanced Questions On Cicadas

When reading a book, have you ever been curious about something you were reading, and wanted to find out more to help you understand what you were reading better?  We have been learning about how important this is this week in Literacy.

When we read The Magic School Bus inside the human body’ I formed some advanced questions using ‘how’ and ‘why’.  I made sure they were open ended questions that would help me understand the book more.  An example of one of my questions was “Why are intestines coiled up?’ and I then researched and found out that an adults intestine is 7.5m long, so it needs to coil up so that it fits in the body.

Next we got to chose our own book to read out of our virtual library and we had to form 3 advanced questions about it.  Our create task this week was to share these in a creative way.  I chose to do it with Biteable and it was about a book called Cicadas.

I really enjoyed this task as it made me realize how important it is to do this when reading to understand the text better.
